Nel 1839 due chimici tedeschi estrassero per la prima volta dalla Filipendula (Spiraea Ulmaria) un acido praticamente puro che venne denominato “acido di Spirea”. Fin dal 1860 l’estratto della pianta, combinato con altre sostanze vegetali, fu uno degli ingredienti della Pasta Callifuga del farmacista Giuseppe Murroni e la formula venne poi perfezionata e messa a punto dal figlio Pietro Murroni.
A partire dal 1908 la ricetta del callifugo fu riconosciuta e premiata in campo internazionale:

Da allora la formula è stata tramandata di padre in figlio, fino ad arrivare ai giorni nostri. Un percorso lungo più di un secolo segnato da qualità ed affidabilità dei prodotti.

In 1839, for the first time, two German chemists extracted from the Filipendula (Spiraea Ulmaria) a pure acid which was called “Spirea acid”. Since 1860 the plant’s extract, combined with other vegetable substances, was one of the ingredients of pharmacist Giuseppe Murroni’s Pasta Callifuga and the formula was then improved and developed by his son Pietro Murroni.
